2cupsSugar
3/4cupUnsweetened Cocoa Powder
2teaspoonsBaking Soda
1teaspoonSalt
2/3cupOil
1cup Buttermilk
2largeEggs
1 1/2teaspoonVanilla
1 cupHOT Water
Milk Chocolate Frosting:
1cup Butter (softened)
1/2cup + 2 TablespoonsCocoa
3 3/4cupsPowdered Sugar
2-3TablespoonsHeavy Cream, Whole Milk, or Half-n-Half
Instructions
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Stir until combined. Fold in hot water. The cake batter will be thin and liquidy but that is how it is supposed to look.
Pour cake batter in lightly greased baking sheet (approximately 17 x 13). Bake for 16-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean (be careful not to overbake).
To make Milk Chocolate Frosting:
In a large mixing bowl, whip butter for 3 minutes. Add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk or cream. Whip for 2-3 minutes. Add more cream if needed. Continue to whip until light and creamy.
Spread frosting over cooled cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips or sprinkles, if so desired. Cut into squares.
