The last time I posted a chocolate chip cookie recipe, I received a text from a cute niece of mine wondering how many chocolate chip cookie recipes I have up my sleeve? My answer was "more than you could imagine." I just can't get the recipes out fast enough to you! This has been my thing for as long as I can remember so I have collected and created an incredible amount of recipes over the years.
This 100K Malted Milk Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe has been a staple in my cookbook for almost 20 years. My cousin's wife brought these cookies in a large basket to a family gathering and I knew that I had to have the recipe. The ingredients are so unique! I have been playing around and tweaking this recipe for years and it is downright amazing.
These 100K Malted Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies are made with the typical chocolate chip cookie ingredients -- sweet cream butter, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips.
I promised you that these cookies were different than all the rest. Different is good. Unique is good.
The star ingredients and game changers in these malted milk chocolate chip cookies are.....
Drumroll please...
Vanilla malt powder and Sweetened Condensed Milk. Anyone see that coming?
Here's the dealio on these 100K Malted Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies....
The vanilla malt powder gives that subtle malt flavoring that pairs perfectly with milk chocolate. Oh and sweetened condensed milk is just liquid heavenly goodness. Martha Stewart is known to eat it straight from the can in her refrigerator and I have never related to her more than I do now.
The sweetened condensed milk creates that chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. If you want to know what to do with the remaining sweetened condensed milk, make this soft, buttery caramel corn recipe.
My favorite milk chocolate chips to use in these cookies are Guittard, Ghirardelli, and Trader Joe's Milk Chocolate Pound Plus Bar. I love to use both chips and chunks for variation in these 100K Malted Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies plus the chocolate bar gets all melty and fabulous.

Actually, I wanted to make the cookies & wasn't sure if I would get a reply. I added 1/2 cup malted milk powder instead of 1/4 cup & it was more malty (yum) tasting but didn't do anything strange to the cookie texture. It was maybe a softer cookie, but not over soft--also added another cup of choc. chips. I left out the sweetened condensed milk.

Still waiting for a response. If I leave out the sweetened condensed milk, what will that do? Also, does the malted milk powder make the cookie chewier? Other than malt flavor, does it do anything to the texture? I love the flavor of malted milk--will probably add an extra 1/4 cup, will that hurt?

Hi Linda! So the sweetened condensed milk definitely makes it a chewier cookie. Since it is such a small amount you could omit it or even add 1 Tablespoon of milk. You could add extra malted milk but you will want to add a little more liquid to offset the powder. I haven't tried this combination so I am just trying to figure out how I would make it work in the kitchen. If you wanted to add more malted powder and also remove the sweetened condensed milk, you will need to use at least 2 Tablespoons of Milk and maybe even more, if it is crumbly. I hope that helps!

Made these today. I used an icecream scoop. 12min in my oven. They did spread quite a bit but that's ok I like big cookies. Maybe next time I will wait and chill the dough. I used dark chocolate chips and semisweet chocolate chunks. Wow!!! Thank you great recipe

Just tried it!! It's so good. Used ghirardhelli dark choco and semi sweet in it instead. Chilled overnight. This is so far my favorite cookie recipe! Thank you!

Looks like a tried and true recipe! I want to try it out.
Where do I find malt powder? Any suggestions of what to do with the rest of sweetened condensed milk after the 2 tablespoons are used?
Andy
Fyi: didn't see when to add the malt powder. Making the recipe now. Looks great!

The vanilla malt powder goes in with the flour, baking soda and salt.
