I am a huge gnocchi fan. Who else loves gnocchi? I wanted to take the creamy sauce that we use to make Marry Me Chicken and pair it with pillowy gnocchi. When I recipe tested this and made it for all of our kids in town, they devoured it and loved it so much. My son-in-law even sent a text out to declare it as “one of the best things he has ever eaten.” Gotta love that endorsement.

I have shared my Marry Me Chicken Recipe and my I Want to Marry You Cookies Recipe and they have been huge hits so now I am going to share my brand NEW Marry Me Gnocchi recipe. This might just inspired some marriage proposals.

Let’s talk about the sauce. It has it all! Garlic and onion is sauteed in butter and is the base of the sauce. Then, we add layers of flavor — sundried tomtatoes, heavy cream, chicken broth for depth, red pepper flakes for a touch of spice, fresh basil and spinach for freshness, and parmesan cheese for nutty, salty goodness. You will want to drink this sauce!

Marry Me Gnocchi Ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Onion
  • Garlic: Add the garlic once the onion has softened and only cook for 1 minute ro prevent it from browning.
  • Potato Gnocchi: Use either shelf stable gnocchi found in the pasta section or if possible, use fresh gnocchi. I don’t suggest using frozen gnocchi.
  • Sundried Tomatoes (in oil): I like to use jarred sundried tomatoes in oil.
  • Chicken Broth
  • Heavy Cream
  • Fresh Basil: Stir some fresh basil into the sauce and also reserve some for the garnish.
  • Salt and Pepper: Always taste to make sure there is enough salt and pepper.
  • Baby Spinach: I like to tear or chop the baby spinach into smaller pieces before adding it to the sauce.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Freshly grated parmesan cheese melts so much easier into the sauce compared to bagged grated parmesan cheese.
  • Red Pepper Flakes: Add more for extra spice. I love the flavor it adds to the sauce and it gives it a subtle kick.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What kind of gnocchi should I use?
Use shelf-stable potato gnocchi (often found in the pasta aisle) or fresh gnocchi from the refrigerated section. These types cook quickly and absorb the sauce’s flavor beautifully. Avoid frozen gnocchi, as it may release too much moisture.

Why don’t I need to cook the gnocchi before adding it to the sauce?
Gnocchi are delicate and cook quickly. When added to the simmering sauce, they cook through while absorbing flavor. Plus, no need to boil a separate pot of water—less mess!

Can I use something other than cream?
Yes! Substitute with half-and-half for a lighter sauce. It may be slightly thinner than heavy cream but will reduce as it heats up.

What proteins can I add?
Try adding grilled chicken, shrimp, or Italian sausage for a heartier meal.

Substitutions and Variations:

For extra spice, add more dried red chili flakes.

Instead of using sun-dried tomatoes, use cherry tomatoes for extra freshness.

Try cauliflower gnocchi for a lower-carb option.

  1. hi love your recipes and would like to know can i sub cream for greek yogurt to be abit healthier

    1. Hi Rose! I would recommend subbing half of the cream/half-n-half with greek yogurt. You still need some sort of cream/milk to get a sauce consistency! Let me know if you try it out!

  2. 5 stars
