I was inspired to make this recipe by Lex Nicoleta on TikTok. She is the queen of the “Coastal Grandmother” aesthetic which the term “coastal grandmother” refers to a lifestyle and aesthetic trend inspired by the relaxed, elegant, and cozy vibes often portrayed in Nancy Meyers movies, particularly those set in charming coastal towns.
I am a sucker for cozy vibes and dishes that are easy to prepare and highlight the natural flavors of fresh, seasonal ingredients. I remember hearing about this term years ago and telling my husband that I am without a doubt a “coastal grandmother” and I love it!!
Ingredients:
This TikTok Caprese Dip with Boursin Cheese is so simple to make using fresh ingredients.
2 packages of Boursin cheese (Garlic & Fine Herbs): I buy the 3-pack of boursin cheese at Costco since it is a much better deal. It is $9.99 for a pack of 3 but you can find it on sale for $6.99-$7.99 for a 3-pack which is a great deal!
Ripe tomatoes (preferably Roma, grape tomatoes, or campari): I prefer to use tomatoes that are firm and not full of as many seeds.
Garlic, minced
A handful of fresh basil leaves
Extra virgin olive oil
Balsamic Glaze (not to be confused with balsamic vinegar)
Salt and pepper to taste
Bread and Crackers for serving: I like to use a French baguette, cut into slices, and toasted with extra-virgin olive oil or butter. I also like to use La Panzanella croccantini crackers.
What tomatoes should I use?
For this caprese dip, Roma tomatoes or grape tomatoes work best. Roma tomatoes have fewer seeds and less juice, making them ideal for creating a thicker, less watery dip. Grape tomatoes offer a sweet flavor and firm texture, which complements the creamy Boursin cheese perfectly.
Top Tip:
To prevent your dip from becoming too watery, itโs important to deseed the tomatoes.
How is balsamic glaze different than balsamic vinegar?
Balsamic glaze is thicker and sweeter than balsamic vinegar, making it perfect for adding a touch of tangy sweetness without making the dip too runny. You can find balsamic glaze near the balsamic vinegar. I buy my balsamic glaze at Trader Joe’s.
How to make the Boursin Cheese Caprese Dip:
Whether you’re hosting a party or just looking for a tasty snack, this dip is sure to be a hit!
- Spread the Boursin cheese evenly on the bottom of a shallow bowl or plate. A small, flat dish or a shallow bowl works best, as it allows for even distribution of the tomato mixture on top.
- Mix the chopped tomatoes, garlic, and basil in a separate bowl. Add the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic glaze, a pinch of salt, and a dash of pepper. Stir gently to combine.
- Spoon the tomato mixture over the Boursin cheese layer, spreading it out evenly.
- Drizzle with extra balsamic glaze over the top, if desired.
Can I make this caprese dip ahead of time?
Yes! You can prepare the tomato mixture and Boursin cheese layer separately up to a few hours in advance. Assemble the dip just before serving to keep the ingredients fresh.
What if I don’t have boursin cheese?
You can substitute it with another soft, herb-infused cheese like cream cheese mixed with garlic and herbs.

- 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 8 to 10 Basil Leaves (chopped)

- French Baguette or Crackers (toasted)
Instructions
- Chop the tomatoes into small pieces. I suggest deseeding the tomatoes. Remove any extra juice, if desired.

- Spread the Boursin cheese evenly on the bottom of a shallow bowl or plate. A small, flat dish or a shallow bowl works best, as it allows for even distribution of the tomato mixture on top.

Toasting Baguette:
- Brush each slice of baguette lightly with olive oil or butter. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 6-8 minutes or until they are lightly toasted.
- Store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Canโt wait to try this recipe. Just wondering how many tomatoes would I use? Thank you.
Hi Georgina! You can use about 4-6 Roma tomatoes or a package of cherry tomatoes. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Looks sooo good, it surely has to be 5โ! What size pks of Boursin Cheese do you use – what’s the total weight needed? As far as I know, we can only buy tiny 77g pks in Australia sadly…and it’s pricey too. I love Boursin โก
Hi! I used 2 of the 5oz packages so 10oz total. I hope you love this recipe!
